13 Easy ways to pamper Mum on Mother’s Day
Published on Mon May 7 2018 in Lifestyle
Mother’s Day is right around the corner, and you may be stuck for ideas on what to give your mum. Don’t fret—making Mum feel special may be easier than you think! Here are 13 ideas for pampering your mum on Mother’s Day, or anytime of the year.
- Create a custom hamper
Gather some of Mum’s favourite indulgences—snacks, foods, wine, cosmetics, magazines—and arrange them in a nice gift box or basket. Add a decorative bow for a custom hamper sure to please! - Cook her a meal
Breakfast in bed is a Mother’s Day staple, but you can mix it up by treating Mum during any meal of the day. Pack a picnic lunch, host an afternoon tea or cook up her favourite dinner. Or, take a cooking or baking class together for some extra fun! - Make a Mother’s Day card
Store-bought cards can be impersonal. Instead, get creative and make a greeting card especially for Mum. Use her favourite colours, personal photos or write a poem. Instructions for simple designs can be found online, if you’re not super crafty. - Book a spa day
Mums work hard, so why not treat yours to a luxurious spa day? Book a massage, facial or anything else your mum might enjoy. You can also pamper her with a trip to the salon for a manicure, pedicure and hair styling. - Throw her a party
Some mums love to socialise, and a special Mother’s Day party may be the perfect gift! Host a family brunch, dinner or night out with her friends and family. You could also co-host a party with your friends and celebrate everyone’s mums as a group. - Subscribe to her favourite magazine
A magazine subscription is a gift that keeps on giving. Mum will receive another fun surprise when she collects the mail! Subscribe to one of her favourites, or select a title that covers one of Mum’s hobbies or interests. - Put together a family photo album
Photos are a great way to reminisce about past memories. Gather family photos and mementos into a photo album that Mum can keep. You could also create a digital slideshow or video that uses some of her favourite songs, as well. - Write her a letter
The art of letter writing is fading in the age of email, texting and video. A handwritten letter to your Mum could be a unique and heartfelt way to show you care. Write down everything she’s taught you, your favourite memories together, or share what makes her so special! - Take her to a movie
When was the last time your mum went to the theatre? Treat her to a cinema day, complete with popcorn and drinks. Specialty theatres often screen classic films, so you may even be able to find Mum’s favourite. Extend the day by getting a coffee or meal afterwards, and have a chat about the movie. - Hire a maid service
Cleaning the house is many people’s least favourite chore. Give Mum a day off by hiring a maid service to help with housekeeping. Depending on your budget, you can give her a single big clean (perhaps before an event) or weekly or monthly services for several months. - Read a book together
If your mum is a book worm, why not read a book together? Let her recommend a favourite book or a new one she’s eager to read. Schedule a dinner to discuss the book once you’ve both finished, or join a local book club together to chat with other readers. - Plan a weekend away
A trip for two—just you and Mum—could be a great way to connect and bond. There are endless possibilities to suit any mum’s interests: a road trip, winery tours, resort packages, camping trips… You can plan a mini-break that you’ll both enjoy! - Give her a call
Sometimes the simplest gesture can have the most meaning. If you live far from your mum, a phone call on Mother’s Day just to say “I love you” could be the perfect gift! And with video messaging apps, she’ll even be able to see your smiling face.
